History Heroes: Garrett Morgan | The Talented Tenth
The Talented Tenth · Historical and Present

History comes to life
right here in our library.

Join us for History Heroes — a free, hands-on learning experience where children ages 4–8 meet the people who shaped history, and start to imagine what they can shape too.

📅 Saturday, October 10, 2026
📍 A.C. Bilbrew Library, Los Angeles County
👧🏾 Ages 4–8 · Free

It starts with one story.

A child hears about a real person — someone who looked like them, who was curious, who kept going — and something shifts. That's the moment History Heroes is built around. Not a lecture. A story that a child carries home and doesn't put down.

What is History Heroes?

History Heroes is an educational initiative of The Talented Tenth Historical and Present, designed to make Black history exciting, accessible, and age-appropriate for young learners. Through storytelling, books, animation, hands-on activities, and interactive learning, children discover innovators, leaders, inventors, artists, scientists, and other remarkable people who helped shape history.

When children learn what others before them accomplished, they begin to imagine what they can accomplish too.
