Founder & Executive Director  ·  The Talented Tenth Historical and Present

Ashley Feazell is an educator, nonprofit leader, speaker, and community advocate dedicated to empowering the next generation through education, leadership development, and cultural awareness.

Background

About Ashley

In 2018, Ashley founded The Talented Tenth Historical and Present with a simple but powerful mission: to help students build confidence, self-worth, and academic motivation by exposing them to inspiring stories of excellence, leadership, perseverance, and achievement.

Ashley believes that when children learn about innovators, inventors, entrepreneurs, scientists, artists, and changemakers who overcame obstacles and made meaningful contributions to society, they begin to see new possibilities for their own lives.

What started as a passion for education and community service has grown into a program that serves students throughout Los Angeles County through school partnerships, educational enrichment programming, community events, and youth leadership development.

The Story

Why I Started
The Talented Tenth

As I worked with children and families in my community, I noticed that many students were unfamiliar with the stories of the leaders, innovators, and trailblazers whose contributions helped shape our world.

I wanted students to learn more than historical facts. I wanted them to develop confidence. I wanted them to see examples of resilience, determination, creativity, and leadership. Most importantly, I wanted them to understand that greatness is not limited by where they come from or the challenges they face.

The Talented Tenth was created to help students discover role models, celebrate achievement, and believe in their own potential.

Background & Expertise

🎓 Bachelor of Arts — Political Science & Africana Studies

Ashley brings experience in nonprofit leadership, educational programming, executive administration, operations, fundraising, and community engagement.

As the Founder and Executive Director of The Talented Tenth, she continues to develop innovative educational experiences that help students see themselves as future leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers.

"I believe every child deserves the opportunity to see greatness reflected in the stories they learn. When students understand the achievements of those who came before them, they begin to recognize the possibilities that exist within themselves.

My goal is simple: to help students believe in their ability to achieve great things and make a positive impact on the world around them."
